There are like 2 songs on here. | Monthly K-pop Favorites | October 2020

Honestly, I don’t remember what I’ve been listening to in October.

Looking back, I think I listened to the same three songs all month. Judging from my Spotify On Repeat playlist, however, it seems like all of those songs were all by Taylor Swift. Am I ashamed? Nope. It is what it is. Obviously I’m not sick of the folklore album yet.

( Every hour is illicit affairs time. )

But my ult of ults just promoted with the comeback of my dreams, and my weird music mood last month led me to discover a very underrated solo debut.

HOME;RUN – SEVENTEEN

As someone who grew up loving musical theater, this comeback was perfect. When teasers came out, my excitement was just through the roof. From the composition, choreography, and overall production, the boys gave a performance worthy of a Broadway stage and a standing ovation. But what did we expect from SEVENTEEN aka the theater geeks of K-pop?

I’ll keep this short and sweet; else, I’d be gushing for ten years.

ISLAND – YOUHA

Truly a gem, I genuinely cannot believe people are not hyping up this debut! I watched some of Youha’s cover songs — and, dude, her voice! It’s so soothing, and incredibly unique in the K-pop sphere. Then, I found out she was from YG Entertainment, and it all clicked. She definitely deserved better, so I’m glad she had such an incredible debut under Universal.

( PS: Can she please do a collab with The Rose’s Woosung? )

I know y’all don’t really give a fuck when I ramble about K-pop, but I need a place to talk about my faves as well as an avenue to share (and record) of some of my recent music discoveries.

K-pop is such a vast music genre, so I like looking back on what took over my playlists for the month. These posts are mostly self-indulgent. 🤣

So, if you’re still reading until here: thank you!
